What is the Fortnite World Cup?
The Fortnite World Cup is a massive competition created by Epic Games. The competition will see players from around the world do battle for huge sums of money and bragging rights. The competitions will run over the span of four months and will see competitors do battle in solos, duos, and the unique Creative Trials.
Fortnite World Cup Online Opens
The Online Open Qualifiers are relatively easy to understand. Players will compete in their region in either solos or duos competitions for points. The first day of each competition, which will always be a Saturday, will give competitors a three-hour window in which to play 10 games.
In those 10 games, players will receive points for where they place in the game, as well as the number of eliminations. The 3,000 players with the best scores will move onto Sunday when the points reset and the same process occurs.
The top scoring team from the Sunday will receive cash and an invite to the Fortnite World Cup Finals.
Fortnite World Cup Creative
The Creative Trials work a little bit differently than the Open Qualifiers.15 participants will be chosen to compete in the Trials. Each Trial will consist of five different events based on creations within the community.
Fortnite World Cup Rules
Once a player qualifies to compete in the Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers (see below), the rules are simple. Players compete in 10 matches in a specific three-hour time period.
Players compete in either solo or duos to earn points based on placement in matches and eliminations. The top 3,000 players from the first day of an open qualifier progress to day two, when everything resets and they do it again.
For a complete list of rules, check out the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Online Open Official Rules and the Fortnite World Cup Creative Competitions Official Rules.
Fortnite World Cup Prize Pool
The Fortnite World Cup prize pool consists of a whopping $100 million. Each week of the Fortnite World Cup, a prize pool of $1 million will be distributed internationally to the top players.
A large portion of the prize pool will end up going towards the competitors that make it to the Finals in New York. The 100 solo qualifiers and 50 duos qualifiers will all secure at least $50,000 for making it that far with the Solo Champion walking away with $3 million.
When is the Fortnite World Cup?
The Fortnite World Cup spans over four months beginning on April 13, 2019, and ending on July 28, 2019.
