What is the Fortnite World Cup?

The Fortnite World Cup is a massive competition created by Epic Games. The competition will see players from around the world do battle for huge sums of money and bragging rights. The competitions will run over the span of four months and will see competitors do battle in solos, duos, and the unique Creative Trials.

Fortnite World Cup Online Opens

The Online Open Qualifiers are relatively easy to understand. Players will compete in their region in either solos or duos competitions for points. The first day of each competition, which will always be a Saturday, will give competitors a three-hour window in which to play 10 games.

In those 10 games, players will receive points for where they place in the game, as well as the number of eliminations. The 3,000 players with the best scores will move onto Sunday when the points reset and the same process occurs.

The top scoring team from the Sunday will receive cash and an invite to the Fortnite World Cup Finals.

Fortnite World Cup Creative

The Creative Trials work a little bit differently than the Open Qualifiers.15 participants will be chosen to compete in the Trials. Each Trial will consist of five different events based on creations within the community.

Fortnite World Cup Rules

Once a player qualifies to compete in the Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers (see below), the rules are simple. Players compete in 10 matches in a specific three-hour time period.

Players compete in either solo or duos to earn points based on placement in matches and eliminations. The top 3,000 players from the first day of an open qualifier progress to day two, when everything resets and they do it again.

For a complete list of rules, check out the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Online Open Official Rules and the Fortnite World Cup Creative Competitions Official Rules.

Fortnite World Cup Prize Pool

The Fortnite World Cup prize pool consists of a whopping $100 million. Each week of the Fortnite World Cup, a prize pool of $1 million will be distributed internationally to the top players.

A large portion of the prize pool will end up going towards the competitors that make it to the Finals in New York. The 100 solo qualifiers and 50 duos qualifiers will all secure at least $50,000 for making it that far with the Solo Champion walking away with $3 million.

When is the Fortnite World Cup?

The Fortnite World Cup spans over four months beginning on April 13, 2019, and ending on July 28, 2019.

Fortnite World Cup Schedule

The schedule for the Fortnite World Cup features three stages: Open Qualifiers, Creative Trials, and the Finals.

How to Qualify for the Fortnite World Cup

Qualifications for the Fortnite World Cup is actually quite easy:
All players must be at least 13 years old – with anyone under 18 requiring a parent or guardians’ approval.
Players must be in good standing with Epic Games, receiving no violations.
The players’ account must be at least level 15.
Players must enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
Players must compete and progress to the Champion League in Arena Mode, which then allows them to unlock the Fortnite World Cup Online Open tournaments.

Buy Fortnite World Cup Tickets

Unfortunately, the pre-registration for Fortnite World Cup tickets is now closed. However, you can find the tickets for sale on ticket search engine sites like SeatGeek.

How to Watch Fortnite World Cup

The easiest way to watch the Fortnite World Cup is on Fortnite’s official Twitch channel. During this broadcast, you’ll be treated to casters giving their analysis and updates to the score. Also, if your favorite Fortnite streamer is competing, you can go to their Twitch channel and watch their POV, though in a time delay.

Who Qualified for the Fortnite World Cup Finals?

The Fortnite World Cup qualifiers have already started, as the best players in the world have been competing to earn a trip to New York. During any given week of the online opens, if a player has already qualified for the Fornite World Cup Finals, the player with the next highest points gets a spot.

Here are the players who qualified for the Fortnite World Cup Finals:

Week 2 of the FWC saw the rise of some lesser known talents. It was not a week filled with megastars but quietly great players who proved that the talent pool runs deeper than outsiders realize. The top team came from the Brazil region, as W7M pfzin and CODE NICKSSS racked up the most points in the Finals.

Fortnite World Cup Week 4 Semi-Finals and Finals

This week was dominated by the West. All 16 of the qualifiers from Week 4 came from either the European or North American servers. The performance of the Finals went to the E11 duo of E11 Tschiiinken and E11 Stompy who took home $10,000. The duo had already claimed an invite to New York but the cash was incentive enough to keep participating.

Yet another dominant performance from Europe highlighted Week 5, as eight players qualified from the servers. While Atlantis Letshe was the top player to come out of Europe this week, Letshe lagged behind Link from Oceania in terms of pure points.
