E3 2021 Schedule, Dates, Lineup, Where To Watch, News & More

Organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), E3 is the world's biggest gaming conference. It's a great opportunity to get exclusive updates on some of the most highly-anticipated games and gaming products of the year. While E3 2020 was canceled due to the COVID pandemic and was normally held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, E3 2021 will be online-only.

Ubisoft Forward

Ubisoft showcased the new Rainbow Six Seige game mode and DLC Extraction. In the new game mode, players will deploy in trios in a search and rescue mission for a certain ally. Along the way, you will have to defeat and navigate around certain maps and enemy zombies, and it looks to broaden the horizon of the Rainbox 6 Seige Universe. Ubisoft showed the launch trailer for Rocksmith+, a new "interactive music learning subscription service" that teaches you how to play electric and acoustic guitar and bass. Sign up for the Rocksmith+ PC closed beta.

 

Riders Republic, a massive multiplayer outdoor sports playground, launches on September 2, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and Stadia.

 

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will join the Brawhalla crew.

Just Dance 2022 releases on November 4, 2021, on all platforms. It'll have new pop and dance songs such as "Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels" by Todrick Hall.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla's next DLC, Siege of Paris, will launch this summer. It'll feature "black box infiltration missions" that give players an objective without any limitations on how they accomplish it. There will also be an unnamed expansion that focuses on Eivor's relationship with Odin.

The Mythic Quest Season 2 finale and the movie Werewolves Within release on June 25, 2021.

In the Far Cry 6 Season Pass, you can play as Vaas Montenegro (Far Cry 3), Pagan Min (Far Cry 4), and Joseph Seed (Far Cry 5).

Ubisoft announced Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, a Mario + Rabbids sequel that's coming in 2022 on Nintendo Switch.

 

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an action/adventure game based on James Cameron's Avatar, is coming in 2022 exclusively for next-gen consoles and PC.

Gearbox E3 Showcase

Randy Pitchford and Eli Roth gave us a behind-the-scenes look at Gearbox's upcoming Borderlands movie. Kate Blanchett plays Lilith, the movie's main character, and Kevin Hart plays Roland. Kate will cross paths with Jamie Lee Curtis (as Dr. Tannis), Gina Gershon (as Moxxi), Janina Gavankar (as Commander Knox), Jack Black (as Claptrap), and Florian Munteanu (as Tina Tina's protector, Krieg).

You'll be able to fight Wyverns in the upcoming Borderlands spin-off, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

The co-op survival RPG, Tribes of Midgard, launches on July 27, 2021, on PlayStation consoles and steam.

Godfall is getting cross-gen play and coming to PS4 on August 10, 2021. The PS4 version will come with a free PS5 upgrade. A new Fire & Darkness Lightbringer expansion will release on August 10, 2021.

Homeworld 3, a real-time strategy game, is still in production.

Xbox and Bethesda premiered 30 games. A lot of them are coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox consoles worldwide.

Here's an overview of the games they showcased:

Starfield

Todd Howard from Bethesda kicked off the show with the official release date trailer for Starfield, the long-awaited sci-fi RPG from Bethesda. Release date: November 11, 2022, exclusively on Xbox Series X/S and PC.

 

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be the sequel to the single-player-driven games from the early 2010s. With a dark and musty feel, this appears to be a hardcore survival game. Release date: April 28, 2022, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. It'll be available on both console and PC on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

Contraband

A teaser for a new game called Contraband was showcased. It's made by the same developers that took the helm for the Just Cause series. Release date: Although a release date hasn't been announced yet, the game will come to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life

 

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life is a new and free DLC for Sea of Thieves. It's going to spotlight none other than Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. There'll also be more missions and quests for players to dive into. Release date: June 22, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, and Steam. You can also play it with Xbox Game Pass.

Battlefield 2042

Xbox revealed the official gameplay trailer for Battlefield 2042, the latest entry into the Battlefield series and one of the most anticipated games releasing in 2021. There were plenty of features showcased, including environmental changes, grapple guns, and more. 1For the first time in the series' history, 128 players can join the all-out war at the same time. Release date: October 22, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Twelve Minutes
Annapurna Interactive will be publishing a game called Twelve Minutes. As the title suggests, it'll be set in a 12-minute loop throughout the game. The game features James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe. Release Date: August 19, 2021

Psychonauts 2

This wacky platform-adventure game looks to be one of the bigger hits for Xbox this year. And we finally have a release date! Release date: August 25, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 PC. You can play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

Fallout 76: Expeditions – The Pit

Bethesda’s latest entry into the Fallout series will be getting a free DLC, called Expeditions: The Pitt, that'll bring players back to the homeland of Washington, which is where Fallout 3 was set. Release date: 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 PCs.

Hades

The critically acclaimed title from 2020, which earned countless game of the year awards, is coming to Xbox (and PlayStation). It's currently only available on PC and Nintendo Switch. Release date: August 13, 2021. 

Halo Infinite Multiplayer

The free-to-play Halo Infinite Multiplayer will merge some of the best components of any Halo multiplayer all into one, with a new grapple gun and vehicles present in the trailer. We're amped for this! Release date: Holiday 2021 for Xbox and PC.

Diablo 2: Resurrected

The Diablo 2: Resurrected street date trailer finally gave us a release date for the highly-anticipated remastered version of Diablo 2. Release date: September 23, 2021, for Xbox consoles and PC. If you pre-order the game, you'll get early access to a limited-time beta in August.

Slime Rancher 2

A sequel to the original Slime Rancher, aptly titled Slime Rancher 2, was announced. Beatrix LeBeau is returning to the Far, Far Range. Release date: "A wiggly new adventure begins 2022."

Shredders

 

A new "love letter to snowboarding" game called Shredders was announced. Release date: December 2021, for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10 PC. You can play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

Atomic Heart

The open-world action/RPG Atomic Heart got a new trailer. The game takes place in the Soviet Union in an alternative reality in 1955. Release date: TBA. It'll be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.

Replaced

Replaced is a new sci-fi action-adventure game with some stellar pixel artRelease date: 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass for Console and PC, with an optimized version for Xbox Series X|S.

The Outer Worlds 2 

The second installment of the Outer Worlds took a jab at all of the other game trailers with The Outer Worlds 2's announcement trailer. It was a light-hearted trailer that will surely bring the same energy when we get an official gameplay reveal. Release date: TBA. The game will be available for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10 PCs, and it's coming day one to Xbox Game Pass.

Flight Simulator

 

The high-performing Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to Xbox Series X/S. There'll also be a new Top Gun DLC for players to check out. Release date: July 27, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S. You can play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

 

Forza Horizon 5

 

Set in Mexico, the beloved racing title Forza Horizon 5 was perhaps one of the best games announced during the Xbox showcase. The high-octane action and graphics are out of this world. Release date: November 9, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 PC. You can play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

Redfall

Last but not least, Microsoft showcased a new IP from Arkane Studios: an open-world co-op FPS called Redfall. Release date: Summer 2022 exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC. You can play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Eidos Montreal released Marvel’s Avengers last year, and they're back with another Marvel IP: Guardians of The Galaxy. This single-player-driven game will have you play as Star-Lord. Release date: October 26, 2021, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Marvel's Avengers Expansion: Black Panther - War for Wakanda

The War for Wakanda expansion, in which you play as Black Panther and defend Wakanda from Klaw, will be free for all players who own Marvel’s Avengers. Release date: August 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia.

Babylon’s Fall

We got a new look at the live service game Babylon's Fall. It features "fluid co-op-combat, powerful weapons and a unique, striking art style." You'll be able to play in co-op online multiplayer for parties up to four. Release date: TBA. It'll be available on PS5, PS4, and Steam.

Life is Strange: True Colors

The new Life is Strange looks like it's going to tug at players' hearts once again. Release date: September 10, 2021, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia.

Hitman Sniper: The Shadows

Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, a free-to-play mobile spinoff of the popular Hitman franchise, was unveiled. "The game focuses on events following the disappearance of Agent 47 and follows the story of The Shadows, a group of highly skilled snipers - Soji, Kiya, Kolzak, Knight, and Stone." Release date: 2021 on iOS and Android.

NieR Re[in]carnation

 

The action command-based RPG NieR Re[in]carnation will be the first mobile game in the NieR series. It'll have players in "a sad and beautiful tale that echoes throughout eternity." Release date: According to the App Store, the game is expected to release on November 6, 2021. It'll be available on iOS and Android.

Warner Bros. Games’ Back 4 Blood

Warner Bros' Back 4 Blood E3 2021 showcase will take place on Sunday, June 13 at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET.Turtle Rock Studios, Inc.

Back 4 Blood is an action-packed zombie survival game that's developed Turtle Rock Studios, the creators of  Left 4 Dead. The official PvP announcement trailer for Back 4 Blood was shown. There'll be a PvP mode called Swarm, in which one side plays as the undead. Release date: October 12, 2021. You can play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

Day 3: Monday, June 14 News

Capcom

Capcom confirmed the development of a Resident Evil Village DLC just started.

Resident Evil Re:Verse, Capcom's online multiplayer title, will release in July 2021. If you own Resident Evil Village, you'll get Resident Evil Re:Verse for free.

Capcom showed a new story trailer and a roadmap of updates for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. It'll release worldwide on July 9, 2021, for Nintendo Switch.

 

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles will include the Great Ace Attorney Adventures and Great Ace Attorney Resolve. It'll release on July 17, 2021, for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Steam.

Razer

Nintendo introduced the next fighter to be a part of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate franchise: Kazuya from Tekken.

 

Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy, which was announced during the Square Enix show, was confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch. But, it will not be purchasable in physical copies, only via the Nintendo eShop.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with the title coming to the Switch on October 5, 2021.

 

Mario Party Superstars was announced. It features over 100 mini-games and some of the best maps from the history of the franchise. This is similar to the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection that released last year.

 

Metroid Dread is a new 2D platformer coming to the Switch on October 8, 2021. Sadly, we didn't hear any news surrounding the release of Metroid Prime 4. But, this is going to be the first time we have seen a new 3D Metroid game in 19 years!

 

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, the previously released RPG on consoles and PC will be ported over to the Switch on September 24th. 

WarioWare Get it Together was a fan favorite game announced during the Direct, as it's the next installment in the classic party game series.

 

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 is coming to Switch on June 25th.

Shin Megami Tensei V revealed its first gameplay trailer. The developer, Atlus, is known for these styles of games such as Persona.

Advance Wars is coming back, and this old but golden game is getting two new titles when they release on the Switch on December 3, 2021.

 

Last but not least, the game everyone was waiting for: The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild 2. Nintendo finally revealed the game's first official gameplay trailer. There was a lot to unpack here, and the developers noted they're aiming to release the game sometime in 2022!
